Pathetic. He sounds like a college kid who should be singing art songs in a practice room. And I was in the house at the Met a few years ago when he attempted to sing and act this part. A travesty, especially after seeing Heppner in very good voice a few days earlier.

The best A-flat of the many recordings of this aria? You have to be kidding! Good, but nowhere remotely in the league of Ruffo, Warren, Merrill, MacNeil, Capp., Shore, etc. His voice is a fach lighter than any of these and sounds tenorial in comparison.

One of favorite tenors, but this role is too heavy for his full lyric voice. This is the realm of Tucker, del Monaco and the like.

Very nice job! I think you're right that it's not a well known song by Lightfoot, but that's a shame, as I think it's one of his best. Which is saying a lot, of course!

Just horrible! Even trying to take it so fast to get through the tessitura can't disguise the fact that he can't come close to doing this justice. The audience must have been shocked.

An astounding voice perhaps the best version of this I've ever heard. And folks, stop comparing him to Jussi. Love Jussi's voice and I love Hermann Prey too. But I would never compare Prey with Warren. Neither would anyone who knows anything about voice.

This music is beyond thrilling and the Met orchestra is just one of the ensembles in the world. When the big theme comes back at 2:22 in C major with the full orchestra, it's hair raising! One of my favorite moments from Lohengrin.

He certainly sounds better singing this than Rigoletto or di Luna!

Argh! This is one of those songs that just sounds better in key. This is down a half step and it sounds totally different in C.

@BassoNero : I agree. I've heard him in 7 or 8 different productions at the Met and the voice is certainly a baritone, not bass baritone. He sounds best to me in Mozart and Donizetti, not the heavier parts. His Wolfram was nice, but Wotan.... not so much.
