Welcome to the YouTube page of British born writer, actor, director and comedian James Cotter.
About Me:
I have written, co-directed and co-starred in Harris & Doyle: Let The Good Times Roll a short comedy film which was the sidequel or companion piece to its predecessor Ross. The short film was premiered at a public screening at Exeter's Picture House in the Summer of 2008.
I am the co-writer, co-director and co-star in a sitcom entitled Back to Class which has been screened at a public screening at Exeter's Picture House in July 2009. I co-wrote the sitcom demo pilot with Dan Pearce who plays Keith Aspin whereas I play Mark Rodgers. The show is currently being looked at by a number of productions companies in the UK with the help of former Bear Grylls producer Luke Lovell, while a series of six episodes is currently being written by writers James Cotter and Dan Pearce which will include the pilot episode Take A Chance On Me.
I am currently developing a new character called Jeremy Spicer with writers Stuart Greenwood and Michael Curle with interest from production companies. A one-off episode entitled The Life and Times of Jeremy Spicer has been produced starring myself as the titular character. It was made by DC Productions. It also featured the voice of renowned voice over artist Bob Kingsley and was written and co-directed by myself.
I am currently filming a comedy documentary in Torquay entitled Not Only, But Also... about Peter Cook and fellow comedians who worked with him. I have just recently played the lead role of Peter Wilton in a short film which has been made for the BBC Film Network called Gruesome Affairs. I have also just begun work on a monologue/talking head called A Matter of Principle. Writing began on the monologue in early December with the working title being Standing Firm. I hope to complete the monologue in early January 2010 and begin filming sometime in January.

Interesting documentary sequence which traces the decline and eventual suicide of the comedy legend. Ends with a short tribute.
