Describing the passion and the talent that God has given him to play the drums; since he was two years old, he grows up watching musical videos and listening the radio. At the same time, he used the cutlery and the pots of his grannys kitchen as a drum set. When he was five years old, his father (Ed Montufar) who was living at United States, send to him his first junior drum set and Mynor used to play it all day long.

Mynor spent the time playing his little drum set, which he will never forget, because it was his first drum set. When Mynor was studying the elementary school, he was part of the school marching band; he used to play a toy snare, due to he was too young.

When Mynor was twelve years old, he traveled to Los Ángeles, California, to visit his father and his grandpa Juan Montufar (who was a jazz drummer and the drummer of an orchestra of marimba). In those days, his grandpa was a drummer in Lluvias de Gracia church of Los Ángeles. There, Mynors grandpa teaches him the basic beginning drum beats. Then, when he was thirteen years old, he came back to Guatemala and began to study at the contemporary music academy Poliritmos where he had the privilege to be a student of Byron Campo, and with his help, he improved new drums techniques, new styles (jazz, rock, funk, Latino Progresivo, Blues, R&B just to mention some of them, and he learned all about music reading and counting notes.
In October, 2002, Mynor Montufar got his first opportunity as an independent drummer. Leonel Bran invited him to record a demo from his production Sin tu Luz. This was the first time that Mynor was in a professional recording studio.

In the year 2005, Mynor was the prizewinner from the contemporary music academy Poliritmos as Outstanding Student.

In the year 2007, Mynor Montufar competes in a talent show, organized by Teatro Del IGA in Guatemala City, in which he was competing with other musicians and he won the first place in the Musical Instrument category.
In the year 2008, Mynor wanted to go into the different music style, and he received private lessons with the recognized Guatemalan drummer, Fernando Martin, whom Mynor admires for his career as a drummer, an incredible drummer.
At the present year, 2009, Mynor initiates with his own musical project; Rhythmic Illusions as the drummer and founder of the same. Rhythmic illusions its formed by virtuous musicians and friends of Mynor. This band plays Fusion music, and plays songs of Gregg Bissonnette, Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, Planet X, to name a few.

Mynor thinks that he is so lucky, because he had the opportunity to play the drums with some musicians, friends and some bands such as: Odres, Chisin, Contra Corriente, Jeny Alem, Shery, Life, Fusion, Ib Music Band, Worshipband, Angels, Odd Time, God Force, Edgar Mata, Radical band, Rhythmic illusions ,just to mention some of them.
