I know what you mean; I have a friend who learnt that way too (with the strings inverted). Makes lefties' lives easier, I guess, because the ones that play like that can play any righty bass (95% of all basses, probably).

Hi, yes, there is a damper there as well. The thing is: the camera I've used to do these videos is not very good, and the higher strings sounded louder.
