It's obviously very tricky to sing so high, and many find the sweet spot to be a bit sharp depending on the note. And every voice is different. Listening to his Verdi I did not expect this kind of mezzo-voce refinement. I used to like Pavarotti's voice the best. Nothing beats his natural instrument, but because of my respect for artistry and interpretation together with the natural sound of the voice, I now have a new favourite!!!!

It seems to me that this is an aria where Gedda really shines. The weight of the voice and the mixture of registers is so perfect. Even Kraus, who sings it so beautifully, cannot do the pianissimi that this aria calls for. But Gedda makes it sound easy.
