RightRides is a free, safe, late night ride home for women and other at-risk populations.
Launched in 2004 in direct response to increases in sexual assault on low-income, minority women walking home in North Brooklyn neighborhoods. Outraged by the attacks, founders Oraia Reid and Consuelo Ruybal mobilized quickly. Using their own car, they started offering women free, late-night rides home in just three neighborhoods.
RightRides now operates in 45 NYC neighborhoods has driven 2,000 people home safely, thanks to 100's of dedicated volunteers and vehicle sponsor Zipcar.
