About this user
Want to know what's funny about cramps, racism, crazy parents, or being a birthday clown? Listen to comic/songwriter Robin Roberts. With lyrics that read like pages from her diary, Robin's unsentimental tunes are funny because they don't try to be; they tell the hideous truth. "Get Therapy Before You Have Kids", "More Male Nudity", "I'm a Clown", "Lately There's a Lot of Lesbians in my Life", and "Testosterone" are some of her signature songs.
Robin created and starred in "Cinemascoop", a pilot for Showtime. She was a writer/voice performer on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 radio show, creating the internationally syndicated character, Patty the Depressed Clown. She wrote comedy for the CBS Morning Circus radio comedy service, and Premier Radio. She hosted and wrote the theme song for the Canadian-American Women of Comedy Tour, which raised money for victims of domestic violence. A veteran of such benefits, Robin says, "If men would stop beating up women, maybe I could get some paid work!"
Robin's self-produced stand-up show, Comedy Schmomedy, ran for 8 years in L.A., garnering 4 Comedy Picks of the Week from the L.A. Weekly, and 2 Best Bets from the L.A. Times. Metro L.A. named it, "The classiest and most professional stand-up show in the Valley." William Shatner sought it out for an evening's entertainment!
Robin has been featured on Dr. Demento, National Lampoon Radio, www.theointment.com, Laugh Trax, syndicated comedy for Sprint Wireless,
and The David Feldman Comedy Podcast at davidfeldmancomedy.com.
Robin spent a month on the island of Malta, teaching stand-up comedy to the Maltese. The result was the first stand-up show in Malta's 5,000-year history. She doesn't want much, just a plaque on some ruins that says, "Robin Roberts -- She brought the Catskills to the Mediterranean."
