Yeah, It is odd that they got the year right 24 years ago, and they also implied that he was shot, though the exact nature of the shooting was little off.

There are so many things wrong with that first version of the pilot! That scene with the 3d glasses is from a famous black and white photograph and the part they colorized, the lenses of the 3d glasses, is the one thing in the original scene that would have been grey, since all 3D features show...
