I don't have, and don't intend on getting it.
If my sister gets Sims 3, I will probably help with some stuff on that.

and this is my answer:
I can honestly say I have no idea. But I think it's like a base for the item. Like cheerleading you can't have a flyer without the bases. So the item is like the flyer. and the mesh is like the bases. I guess that's the best I can think of to explain it.
