Considered a "technician" of the game, Coach Mongero has helped develop and/or mature many baseball players, including 12 athletes who have signed professionally and more than 85 student-athletes who have furthered their baseball careers at the collegiate level. Trent instructs at top college baseball camps including The University of South Carolina (for Coach Ray Tanner: 2010 and 2011 Division One National Champions, USA National Team Head Coach and former USA Olympic Assistant Coach) and The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for Coach Mike Bianco. He also instructs at renowned baseball coaching clinics alongside top Division One baseball coaches and current/former professional players such as Josh Hamilton (MLB Home Run Derby sensation at Yankee Stadium in 2008). Trent is currently an Associate Professional Baseball Scout for the Boston Red Sox.

Trent is a former professional baseball player in the Atlanta Braves farm system. He was a "rookie" in the Atlanta farm system the same year as Major League Baseball 1st round draft pick "Chipper" Jones. Trent was voted by his home fans, "Braves Most Popular Player". In college he was a Division One short stop at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Trent was voted CAA "All-Conference" short stop and "Conference Player of the Year." Trent played college baseball at South Florida Junior College where he was voted team co-captain and played for the Florida Junior College State Championship.
