About this user

My career began in New York at the age of 12 when my father introduced me to an 8 mm movie camera and flat bed editor. I took to it quickly and began directing and editing my own short films. At age 16 I spent two years at an intensive technical school studying professional photography. After graduating, I moved on to college where I studied psychology, filmmaking, acting and theatre.

After College, my life took an interesting turn when I landed a position with a New York based Fortune 500 Company as instructor/coach and motivational speaker. This decade long run provided me with opportunities for advanced development of my coaching-mentoring, teaching and speaking skills while furthering my knowledge of people, personality, human behavior, social structure and life. I've traveled to 22 countries; and I've spent years studying under the tutelage of many great teachers such as: Zig Ziglar, Og Mandino, W Clement Stone, Mark Victor Hansen, Wayne Dyer and countless others.

After years of extensive travels throughout the United States and many other parts of the world, I finally landed in Hollywood, California. It's here where I shifted my focus from the corporate business world back to the artistic world. Over the next ten years, I taught/coached and directed hundreds of actors, produced and directed numerous live shows and in 1995 I became the improv director and comedy coach of The World Famous Comedy Store. As a performer as well, I've had the opportunity to appear in upwards of 100 TV commercials, work in movies and landed the recurring role of Lt. Richardson as a series regular in the action TV show LA Heat. Although I continue to direct and pick up acting rolls, my emphasis is placed more extensively on my coaching/mentoring/teaching practice, where I focus my attention on helping others to reach their own goals.

Presently, I head up Clay Banks Productions & Studio, a Hollywood area based, Film Acting & Performance Studio and Production Company. I teach a powerful on camera film acting technique which is strongly grounded in the art of working honestly and truthfully. I also teach Leadership and Video Production classes at media and performing arts schools around the world and continues to coach, write, produce and direct.
