swapping in a differnt trans may also be an option, like a nv3500/4500. They came in that body style so theyll bolt easily, and they have an overdrive gear and still a deacent 1st gear. you might also consider a 700r4 from a 6.2 diesel truck if you want an auto, or any 700r4 modifie...

New engine in truck
355 9.5-1 882 heads 1.94 1.50 valves Holley 600 vac sec.
Comp cams X4262, they said the cam had a noticable idle.... not sure about that :)

im gonna build an almost identical engine, only with the 226/.480 int, 234/.498 exh. extreme 4x4. same heads, carb .30 over. but i have a 4spd. how you like your setup for daily drivin and such?
