@probrojeffro No Black Dog is not a repeated motif. The guitar part is an answer to the call made by the singer. It is too developed melodically. Kashmir by Zep, that's a riff- only three notes. Haha- why did Coverdale sound like Page? Well he's a heavy metal singer. British metal singers sound like Plant, Ian Gillian or Paul Rodgers. Coverdale sort of sounds like Paul Rodgers mixed with Robert Plant. That's why Coverdale replaced Gillian in Deep Purple and why got to work with Jimmy page
