About Me:

Host of the All Tech Radio Show heard on radio stations in Portland and Seattle every Sunday morning.

This channel is designed to present short videos that help technicians and engineers solve a specific task.

Most How To Videos show many different tasks in one video, and that may slow a tech down in trying to resolve a problem.

By creating single subject videos you can focus on just the information you need to know to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Hi. You can do the remote shutdown -i followed by the IP or computer name. If you don't know the IP or name of the computer you can doownload a free IP scanner program like Angry IP Scanner from download.com. It will scan the entire network subnet for you. If the firewall is turned on and won't return a ping request, it still registers the MAC address so you will know that it's alive. Then you can shut it down remotely assuming you have admin rights to the computer, and the firewall has an exception for this rule.

Hi, i was wondering how to shut down another computer using the shutdown -i command. Or is there a better way to do so. Because the other day i was at a friends and my computer was left on so i attempted to turn it of by using the command prompt and using Shutdown -i but i always get stuck there. How do i find the correct ip and shut my computer down?
