I don't think that life is so easy going for people who are introverted, myself included.

It's all cultural I think. One person's perception of the world can influence another person or group of person's. I look at my introversion as a spiritual trait and also as a mental disorder. It's not just one sided.

When someone backs off because your shy and still be "in the spotlight" in their mind, then they subtly mistreat me.

I gotta let someone know that I need help, otherwise everyone becomes my enemy.

The comparison of SAD and shyness is largely based on gender in society. For males shyness is known to a small group of people that a person affiliates with, for females shyness it manifests in the world as a whole. Everything depends on a person's gender.
