I bought this CD in the mid-90s. This may be the best recording of any harpsichord music by anyone, both for the quality of the performance and for the recording itself, which manages to capture the sound of a harpsichord more accurately than anything else I've heard.

The harpsichord provides more clarity than the piano in this kind of contrapuntal texture. Because of the plucking action, the attack of the tone is sharper and the overtone series is different than on a piano. The sound is brighter and clearer. This can sound really muddled on a piano.
