The Community Kitchens Project at Guilford College is a community run organization sponsored by Volunteer In Your Community, Meriwhether Godsey, and The Bonner Center For Community Service& Learning, One at A Time Home Health Care, teachers, and staff at Guilford College prepare meals and repurpose food donated by the college's cafeteria and Harris Teeter. Meals are delivered to various shelters and the homeless living in Greensboro, NC. Meals are also delivered to the elderly, and people living in poverty. The program started in September of 2010 and has served over 1500 meals so far and recovered over 800 pounds of food. The Community Kitchens Project is thankful for the support of local businesses, volunteers, and leaders that care about sustainability and caring for people.
