Sure, some drums may put their drums in specific positions for some certain style or affect, I just keep mine flat and mostly uniformly level.
The snare up high helps me with my posture, somewhat - as you can see I'm still not sitting straight up most of the time, which seriously irks me. It works my upper body, it just feels good to me.
