To Live (Chinese: 活着; pinyin: huó zhe) is a Chinese film directed by Zhang Yimou in 1994, starring Ge You and Gong Li and produced by the Shanghai Film Studio and ERA International. It is based on the novel of the same name by Yu Hua. To Live was screened at the 1994 New York Film Festival before eventually receiving a limited release in the United States on November 18, 1994.
The story begins some time in the 1940s. Xu Fugui (Ge You) is a local rich man's son and compulsive gambler, who loses his family property to a man named Long'er. His behaviour also causes his long-suffering wife Jiazhen (Gong Li) to leave him, along with their daughter, Fengxia and their unborn son, Youqing.

Still Life (2006) - Directed by Jia Zhang Ke
Still Life shows the arrival of two people to Fengjie in the Sichuan province of China. Han Sanming (Han Sanming) arrives in the city looking for his daughter who he hasnt seen since he split up from his wife sixteen years ago, but he finds that the address of the house he is looking for is no longer in existence. It is underwater, flooded in an early phase of the creation of the Three Gorges Dam.

Red River Valley (1997) - Directed by Feng Xiaoning
Red River Valley (Chinese: 紅河谷; pinyin: Hóng hégú) is a 1997 film about the British incursion into Tibet, starring Paul Kersey and Ning Jing. It was also released under the title The Tale of the Sacred Mountain.
Though popular in China (where it won numerous prizes at China's three main award ceremonies: Huabiao, Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers), Red River Valley was little seen outside of the mainland.

Electric Shadows (2004) - Directed by Xiao Jiang
For no apparent reason, a mute young woman assaults a youth who delivers water on his bicycle, injuring him and ruining his bike. Surprisingly, she asks him to feed her fish while she is in custody.
In her tiny apartment, he discovers, is a shrine to his favorite escape, the movies. He finds her diary - a screenplay of her life built around scenes from favorite films - and it sets off his imagination. Maybe they have more in common than a love of the movies.
