Ferry was near Mukilteo; across the Sound is Whidbey Island. You skipped Edmonds (also has a ferry dock). Too bad your view was blocked in Interbay Yard; oftentimes, you can see Boeing 737 fuselages next to the Balmer Yard office (just before the tail of that "stack"/container train).

@SatoTM2 Looks close enough to walk in sunny weather, but if it's pouring down rain... I don't think it'd be that long a distance, either: at ~25mph, a two-mile loop takes ~5 mins. In Redmond at 4pm, it can take longer than that--no matter what surface transportation method you choose.

The town at the beginning is Monroe. Evergreen State Fairgrounds is big; I think there's still a racetrack, which has hosted smaller NASCAR races. Navy yard's in Everett.
I lived on Bainbridge in the 1980s; I was surprised to see a McDonald's there during a recent visit.
