No one in Sen. Chuck Purgason's family had been involved in politics prior to Chuck making the decision to run for state representative in 1996. He ran for office because government regulations, rather than the needs of his family and business, were guiding his decisions.

Not being the pick of the party, Chuck worked against unbelievable odds, being outspent 15 to 1, to win the Republican nomination. A strong believer in individual liberty, Chuck has stayed true to the reason he went to Jefferson City fourteen years ago - to represent the interests of the people in his district.

Chuck has become an expert at cutting government spending to fit Missouri's budget. In 2005, as a state senator, he sponsored a bill making the largest budget reduction in the history of Missouri. This single bill reduced state spending the year it was passed by $300 million, and since passing, reduced state spending by nearly a billion dollars.

Chuck is running for the office of U.S. Senator to answer the call of conservative Missourians who want a choice on August 3rd. There are only two candidates with legislative records running in the Republican primary. Chuck's record shows that he will take the lead in cutting government spending, working to end the federal income tax, and support traditional values in Washington D.C. It's time to "Chuck Out" status quo and choose a leader who will take Missouri in the right direction.
