Harass someone online-Two years in jail.
Most people are unaware that there is in fact a law protecting us all online!
You can in fact print out emails and various other things online, like comments or feedback and give the information to your local police. The local police are in fact trained to track down I.P Addresses as well as residential addresses to those who make Email, Blog, and other Internet accounts for the purpose to stalk, Harass and Bully others. The Authorities do not take Online Harassment Lightly. It's a REAL Offense covered By Law!
I'm sure most of you remember Megan Meier?
If not, Please read her story HERE
It's no joke. President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying/Harassing Web messages or sending Harassing e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity.
The bill cleared the House of Representatives by voice vote, and the Senate unanimously approved it Dec. 16. 2008.
Criminal penalties include stiff fines and two years in prison.
A new federal law states that when you annoy, stalk or Harass someone on the Internet, you must disclose your identity. Here's the relevant language.Whoever...utilizes any device or software that can be used to originate telecommunications or other types of communications that are transmitted, in whole or in part, by the Internet... without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person...who receives the communications...shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."
In the new law is Sec. 113, an innocuously titled bit called "Preventing Cyberstalking." It rewrites existing harassment law to prohibit anyone from using the Internet "without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy."
If you feel you are being Stalked Or Harassed on Blogger,Myspace, Facebook A Message Board, Text Messages, Instant Messaging, YouTube or any other online website or device, Print out the emails, texts or messages, the email addresses they came from and time. Give all this to your local Police and work with them to find the Suspect! It's not a Joking matter and not something to take lightly. What the person is doing is WRONG and Illegal, Take Action!
If you have Children online, let them know that they can talk to you, Tell them about this Law so they know they can turn to you and get the authorities involved. This law protects ALL, Children, Teens and Adults.
Many do not know that Online Bullying, Harassment and Stalking is Against the Law!
Make sure you are educated on this, for yourself and others. If you know of someone who is dealing with an online Bully or Stalker/Harasser, Let them know that there are ways to take action and be there to help where you can.

Below is a Little Video that I thought was good on Cyber Bullying and Harassment.
This tells you how to report someone on YouTube. But most sites have the same type of Report procedures. After you have reported them via the actual site or email service, Bring all evidence to your local police.
Evidence includes:
*Print Outs of Emails, Conversations, Comments, websites.
*Email Addresses the Suspect Used
*Time and Date of Harassment
*In some cases, the authorities are going to want to go through your PC, and that's OK, it will aid them in tracking down the suspect.
*If the Suspect does not live near you, your local police will work with other local police to make sure justice is served! Those out there that are Harassing or stalking people online. You will and CAN be caught. You may be laughing now, thinking there is no way you can be caught. But you won't be laughing when you are being brought in for questioning. Maybe then, it will all sink in that Online Harassment is not a joke!
