The is a modification to the ASK21 that is intended to prevent the front canopy being locked without the rear canopy being closed, but with force it can be over ridden. In an emergency, when opened the rear canopy is designed so that the supporting frame breaks, at weak points, achieved by drille...

The winch is a Skylauncher 2, 8.2l V8 with close to 400hp, 0 - 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, pulling about 1/2g (Faster than a Ferrari). Launching in this direction, the cable run is about 3,000ft, with no wind we got to about 1,200ft in 40 seconds.

Full time Staff Instructor at Portmoak - (3,000 launches, 600hrs each year), sometimes the weather is better, much better.

Many of the longest flights in the UK have been flown in Scotland, most from our site.

@OSXHD One should never resist the urge; however, these pilots are very skilled and much older than the pilots who flew in combat during the Battle of Britain. They are putting on a show.
