Over the years, hip hop has gone through many changes. Change can be both good or bad. Well, hip-hop out of Hawaii is a good thing. Chris Jay has a goal to show everyone who enjoys hip-hop that its not all about ukuleles and drums. Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii, Chris is a true Island Boy. At the age of 17, Chris still resides on the Big Island, But because of Myspace his music is being heard all over the world. Though he is still young, growing up he had the influences of Biggie Smalls, Tupac, RUN DMC, and many others. At the age of 8 he had his first performance with his cousin and it was all history from there. For the next five years he performed at shows for audiences all over Hawaii. At the age of 13 he wrote his first song and
recorded it on a simple, but effective USB microphone.

Over the years he worked hard to perfect his craft, writing 3 songs a week even during classes eventually leading to recording in a professional studio with jet dreamin at the age of 15. In 2008 way after his experience in a professional studio he took what he learned and decided to make his own studio with the help of his parents. School was a major priority so he focused on school more eventually leading to no hip-hop from Chris for a few months. Chris took a few weeks to evaluate his career and started to get back into it, freestyle battles in school and writing rhymes were slowly creeping back into him until he got a break.

Chris soon hooked up with Big Island clothing line JADD eventually being sponsored by them and being a featured artist. Since than he had released 5 songs while keeping some to himself to save for his up and coming album REAL TALK. Chris has been working hard just to make it. At the age of 17 he has a long way to go. He has been making an impact of being a fine representation of Hawaii. He carries on his shoulders, Change. For many years people have never seen the true potential of Hawaii Hip-Hop. It has been looked as a place for vacation and sight seeing for many years. Let Chris Jay and a bunch of other Hawaii artists show you the true definition of Hawaii through the Speakers and Microphones.
