Chris Griffith, Journalist

Chris Griffith is the online deputy news editor for The Australian newspaper in Sydney. Before that, he was online reporter for The Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane.

He has worked in TV and radio, but mostly in newspapers: first as a columnist with The Sun-Herald in Brisbane in the early 1990s, and then as a reporter with five year stints at both The Sunday Mail and The Courier-Mail before helping pioneer the paper's coverage on the Internet.

He also has a long association with computing that extends back to the late 1960s having worked as a computer programmer/analyst, and in education. The year 2008 will be 40 years since he wrote his first computer program as a kid.

Before entering journalism in the early 1990s, Chris was a media spokesman for a large Queensland non-party political organisation that for years worked to end the state's gerrymandered voting system.

His interests include online video and multimedia production.
