*THE BENEFITS OF CHRISTIANITY*
Some think that the life of a christian is all boredom and hard work. While it is challenging, our last two articles will consider the benefits that far outweigh the costs.
The crowning benefit faithful christians receive is salvation: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son (I John 5:11). Added to this, christians are promised that while on earth the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:7). Our worries and anxieties are unnecessary, for which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? (Matthew 6:27). Thus, knowing our saved state, we may rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory (I Peter 1:8). Our hearts and minds are filled with happy emotions as we live, knowing that God approves of us and blesses us.
Christians also enjoy indescribable contentment. Their lives are no longer centered around earthly, material things because they have a different set of priorities. They are focused on spiritual things, not on making more money or buying luxurious things. As one inspired apostle wrote, For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content (I Timothy 6:7-8). Christians recognize the greater importance of preparing for an eternal life over preparation for one that lasts only a few decades.
Christians are also content with the end of this life. Paul wrote, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness (II Timothy 4:7-8). Christians understand that death is simply a release of the soul from the physical body. Having been obedient to God, that soul will find his place in Heaven after the Judgment Day, where he will live forever in ultimate bliss with God. What greater end could we ask for than that?
