I've been playing guitar for about 3 years I'd say. When I was first leaning how to play I taught myself, and looked up chords online, or in books, and then I went to take lessons! So that's how know chords...and when I figure out songs, I usually just listen to them, see what key the song is in, then try to see what works best.
