About this user

Chewie Films are Belfast based duo Richard Davis and Anna FitzSimons. Richard studied animation in Norwich before moving to London to work on a The Brothers Quay production for Channel4, he stayed and continued to work in the industry. Anna grew up in Canada and returned to Belfast to study applied art and then lens based media, throughout this time she worked on television productions with Green Inc and BBCNI. Richard and Anna met in 2004 while both attending separate residencies in Belfast and the seed of working collaboratively was sewn.

Their first project together was a music video commissioned by the BBC for Across the Line TV and from that came Chewie Films. Short films and music videos make up the bulk of their work to date receiving airplay on MTV2 and the BBC, their short films have been screened in Valencia, Spain at La Sala Naranja, and the VAIA, in London by the Halloween Film Society, Newcastle Upon Tyne at Animex International Festival of Animation, in Cork at the Silent Light Super8 Fringe Festival, and most recently in the Belfast, Urban Eyes Festival.

Richard has recently finished an independent documentary, Innishfree, about an independent music festival that occurs on an island off the west coast of Ireland. Currently they are in the post production for Speedle's Tower, an animation that forms part of the Jukeboxes and Triggers project lead by Seamless Productions.
