Prior to winning a national singing competition and crowned as the First Project SuperStar Champion in 2005, Weilian was a busker in Singapore. He is the first visually impaired person to have won a singing contest in Asia.

Kelvin Chen Weilian sings in various languages, including Mandarin, English, Thai and dialects such as Hokkien and Cantonese. He also plays the piano and guitar.

His debut album ''All i want is...Chen Weilian" holds the highest sales record in Singapore. In Aug 2007, he ventured overseas into Taiwan and China with his second album ''i-Weilian''.

Weilian has also started composing songs. In fact, seven songs in his new album 'Moving Notes' were his own compositions.
