If I were a part of your school and organization, I am sure that I would perform the forms the way you do. But I am not. Therefore, wrong is relative to the group you belong too. The question of form is, does it serve its purpose? Is the form building strength, coordination, balance, speed, power, etc? It does that.

I disagree with the comment on any belt can critique any belt at any time. Our class is run in a military way as was my instructors class. Would a pvt correct a col? You are correct tho on the comment "we never know everything". Where do you study? How old are you? What belt are you?

As long as you enjoy what you are doing and its effective, then that's what really matters. I am glad you did well in your tourney. A bit of advise from an old guy tho....train for the street twice as hard as you do for tourneys. A true martial artist trains all of his life for a fight he hopes never happens. Also, orange belts do not critique blackbelts. Lol. thanks for the post again.

Every school has a different way of doing forms. I do the forms the way I was taught to do them. The chambering and prep for chops that you are describing is the way that GM CS Kim teaches (and a few others). But I started learning tang soo do about 10 years before the ITF and WTA were founded from GM Yul Ki Yu. As an honor to him, I still teach and perform the way I was taught. Thank you for your post.
