Wonder if she ever sang this with James Taylor, who wrote the song. She's performed a few of James' songs on her albums, and also did a duet on her "Get Closer" album, "I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine."

Linda Ronstadt - Tell Him
this was from her album "Get Closer" released in 1982. I'm familier with the British band Hello's version.

As usual, Linda is backed up by Andrew "Lonely Boy" Gold and Mr. Formal, Danny Kortchmar. Doesn't Danny look like Nicolas Cage in this video.

Linda looks and sounds great as usual, wearing the "Get Closer" polka dot dress, but someone had a little too much fun with the video editing tools. This was made in the early days of MTV, when people were still trying out new editing techniques, so I guess that's why it looks like this.

Love the video... have never seen it before. Linda eventually recorded this song with Dolly Parton. It's the closing song on Linda's "Simple Dreams" album.

Is there a version of this song by a band called Pumpkin, from 1971? Where might I find a copy of that version?

Thanks for posting this! I'm trying to replace my cassette music collection taped in the 1970s, and this is one of the songs that has been difficult to find.

Nice picture of Stevie. I know because I took it back in 1980, long before you saw it on my Flickr account and decided to use it without giving me credit! By the way, she was singing "Sara" in this photo, not "Sisters Of The Moon."
Next time, show some manners and please ask if you can use it, or...

I loved this sketch. Best part is when Dave Thomas says to Joe Flaherty, "I'd like to shake your hand." Joe tries but his arm is broken so he cries in pain. Dave sadistically laughs. Hilarious.

Saw this when it was first broadcast on HBO in 1980, and I never get tired of watching it. The power in Linda's voice at 1:27 is amazing! This version of "Heat Wave" is superior to the '77 Atlanta video - the tempo is too slow in that one, although Linda looked hotter.
I never knew Linda and James did this song together live! Great video! Also notice Rosemary Butler on backup vocals.
