The French word chaud (pronounced "show") translates to "hot" in English -- the perfect single expression for a sexy songstress taking the music industry by storm. When something is hot, it can cause a series of sensations that range from blissfully enjoyable to violently uncomfortable -- a duality that shapes Chaud's exploration of dark versus light.
Raised on the outskirts of Los Angeles, Chaud, an only child, spent hours in her bedroom -- listening to a boom box and lip-syncing every song that came through the airwaves. It was these formative years that helped fuel a passion and enthusiasm for performance and the dramatic arts. Though an average student, Chaud outshined in musical theater and choir -- proving a dynamic vocal range with unmatched stage moxie.
Influenced by strong female singers like Madonna, Alanis Morissette, Pink, and Pat Benatar, Chaud maintains her own signature sound by fusing dance pop, gritty rock, and edgy lyrics. The outcome is a sound that is truly Chaud: fun, rebellious, and sexy.
Look at Chaud's logo -- a beautiful black rose; tarnished, riddled with stitches, and chained to a single handcuff. This is more than Chaud's symbol. This is Chaud's philosophy on life. The stitches represent the idea that no one is perfect. Good or bad, we all have issues and experiences that make us the person we are. Chaud believes that we should accept these experiences and not try to run from them. The handcuff is to remind us that we are never chained to one way of thinking -- we are granted the privilege to think outside of the box and to always put ourselves first.
"We are all bitches with stitches," Chaud explains. "No matter how you look, how much money you have, where you come from, what your past is like, or how perfect you think you are (and if you do think you're perfect, you're f@*&#ing delusional), I'd just like everyone to enjoy life being who they want to be, not what everyone thinks they should be. If I can help someone escape through music, I live for that."
Today, Chaud is writing and working with one of the best music production teams in the industry and will drop her debut album in early 2012. Her first single, "Ghost of Cain," will be released at the end of this year.
