They are cute little colored pencils to sit on your desk in a pretty cup! I'm pretty sure the lead goes all the way through, but you would probably have to sharpen them with a paring knife.

Don't let Pinecone near the candles!!!! I had a black longhaired cat just like pinecone and she was walking by a candle on the table and her tail caught on fire! My mom was standing right there and grabbed her tail so the fire went out but if we weren't around her poor tail would have been burned.

I am a photography major, and there really is nothing better than b+w darkroom photography. If you have the resources to make your own darkroom you should go for it because it's so fun! I shot with a minolta x700 for my photo 1 and photo 2 classes and I love that little thing.
