About this user
Charley Geary left his Tampa roots at 18 to move to the City of Angels without a clue of what or who was awaiting when he exited the LAX Shuttle Bus in front of the closed down under construction Roosevelt Hotel in the center smack of Hollywood. "Wow, look at all the stars on the sidewalk... look at all the people...look at all the weirdos. Oh my God... I'm Home!! Over the years Charley went on to perform in such venues as the Studio One BackLot (regulary), The Rose Tattoo, Cafe Legends, Gatsby's in Mykonos, LA's House of Blues and of course we musn't forget... The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's "Cinegrill" to name a few of the many clubs/cabarets of "those" eras. He worked with musical directors such as Michael Orland, Andy Howe, David Snyder and Bob Esty. He appeared in many fundraisers (tons in the 90's) including APLA, AHF, and his favorite Tuesday's Child. He worked with many types of Celebrities from Natalie Schaffer to Madame Dish. He also shared the stage with Rosalyn Kind, Mary Wilson and as part of her backup choir for Barbra Streisand. Working with Fran Drescher on "The Nanny " was a treat also in their last season on one of the funniest episodes ever "Yettas Letters". Known for his annual Christmas Concerts, Charley decided one year to co-produce a semi-autobiographical staged One-Man Musical titled "Christmas, Remember..." which ran at the Ruby Theatre at the Complex in Hollywood with great reviews including Bea Arthur's comment "He Really is Italian" during an underwear scene. It was also co-produced/directed by the Late Great TOM QUINN, Charley's Personal Manager and Best Friend as well as business partner for Butterknife Entertainment. In the play Charley was also blessed to have the talents of the late Charles Pierce who played his Agent on Answering VO/Machine Segments. This was Charles Pierce's last production before he died. Butterknife later went on to Produce Charley's first Maxi Single CD Release "I Love, Love" which was co-produced by the talents of DJ Tony Sinclare and debuted at Rage in West Hollywood with a super packed house of fans, people who were curious and even some celebrities including Robby Williams. It was truly Charley's Debut to the "Club Scene" and a taste of what could come. From this followed a nomination for City of West Hollywood's Best Entertainer of the Year. During that time he befriended Juan Loren Zerimar and Michael Carpenter which went on to become the unfolding of Charley's true voice and the best music that 3 souls could ever produce together. His first Album was finally on it's way! However, the project was cut a bit short by a serious illness which hadn't been diagnosed till it was almost too late... Charley Geary suffered from mania due to his Bi-Polar Disorder which eventually cost him the album project, the loss of self esteem and almost the loss of his life. If it hadn't been for his mom Hilda and a few of his loving friends... he would have never survived another moment. It was time for him to take a little vacation. Back to Tampa, for a good 7 months and loads of Meds and therapy. Returning to LA was more difficult than arriving the first time. Everything was different... so much had happened and starting over was overwhelming. He wasn't the viral naive 18 year old anymore. Now... several years have past and Charley is resurfacing slowly but surely with so much more to sing about than before. You can sample some of the Album's Music Tracks here on MySpace as well as the radio edit to I Love Love. Your comments are always appreciated and respected. -ENDHometown
