About Me:
"Where the Bishop is, there let the multitude be; even as where Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church'' (Greek: Katholicos Ekklesia)
St. Augustine (A.D. 354-430):
"The New Testament lies hidden in the Old and the Old Testament is unveiled in the New."
Being aware of the many bad Christians, a person asked C.K. Chesterton: "Is there any great argument against Christianity?"
He answered, "Yes, Christians.
According to the Bible - WHAT IS THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH?
The CHURCH (1 Tim 3:15)
SIGN OF THE CROSS: It was already an old custom when Tertullian said: "We [Christians] mark our foreheads with the sign [of the cross]" (211 AD, The Chaplet [Crown] 3)
WHERE DO CATHOLICS GET THOSE CRAZY BELIEFS? (Bible online: www.drbo.org)
Head of Church - Christ: Col 1:18
Bishops: Acts 1:20 (as an "office")
----(Greek: Episcopoi)
Priests (Presbyters): Titus 1:5, Acts 14:22
----(Greek: Presbuteroi)
Deacons: Acts 6:2 ("serve" is "Diakonos" in Greek)
Priests in fancy garb: Sirach 45 (majestic attire)
Hold to Traditions (word or epistle): 2 Thes 2:14
Baptism replaces circumcision in the NT: Col 2:11
Confirmation: 2 Cor 1:21-22 ("Annointed" and "Sealed") Acts 8:15; Eph 1:13, Eph 4:30
Purgatory: 1 Cor 3:15
Anointing of the Sick: James 5:14-15
Confession: James 5:16, John 20:22-23
Venial Sins (sins not unto death): 1 John 5:16
Mortal Sins (sins unto death): 1 John 5:16
Praying for the dead: 1 John 5:16, 2 Mc 12:46
Intercessory Prayer (praying for others): 1 Tim 2:1
Holy Water: Num 5:17
Free Will: Sirach 15:14-18
Ash Wednesday (and the mark of the Thau on the forehead in ashes): Ezek 9:4
Sabbath ended with the Mosaic Laws: Col 2:16 (prophecy of the end of the sabbaths - Hosea 2:11)
----Sabbath (the Mosaic law - Saturday) belongs to the Hebrews and has never been worshiped by Christians.
----the Lord's Day - celebrated by Christians since Acts 20:7 (Sunday)
----Upheld by (not changed by) the Council of Laodicea.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS (DECALOG) OF THE OT IS DIFFERENT THAN THE 10 OF THE NT:
10 Commandments of Exodus "voided": Eph 2:15,
and "blotting out the handwriting of": Col 2:14
WHEN JESUS SAID "FOLLOW MY COMMANDMENTS" - He meant "HIS" (not Moses')
----After Jesus fulfills the law, there's a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17)
----Jesus says to "keep MY commandments."
----He is asked "which ones?" (Matt 19:17-19) and he lists 6 - do not kill, steal, lie, commit adultery, and honor father and mother, and love neighbor as self (a new law).
----In Matt 22:34-40 he lists the NEW and greatest commandment: love God with your heart, soul and mind.
----Throughout the NT, he re-affirms: no other Gods, do not take God's name in vain, do not covet or lust.
----BUT MISSING IS SABBATH - no command in NT.
----To Christians the sabbath (small "s" meaning "Day of Rest') Heb 4:9 - the rest is in Jesus Christ
If you are using the KJV or Protestant Bibles, you are missing:
Daniel 3:24-90 (song of the 3 young men)
Daniel 13 (Susanna)
Daniel 14
Esther 10:4-10
The 7 deutero-canonical books:
Tobit
Judith
Wisdom
Ecclesiasticus (Sirach)
Baruch
1 & 2 Machabees
Sola Fide (by Faith alone): There is only one place in the Bible with the words "faith" and "alone" and it is James 2:24 "...you are not saved by faith alone."
Sola Scriptura: This term does not exist in the Bible.
Eternal assurance: Does not exist.
Matt 24:13: "He who perseveres to the end shall be saved."
Phil 2:12: "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling."

This is not purgatory. ... This is what I get from this chapter.. If you do less works than other christians, (which will happened cause some christians are more on fire than others.) you will still go to heaven but your reward is less. I dont see anything to do with purgatory..
