The words on the statue are in Syriac - Aramaic, not Arabic (as it's said in the movie).
The Aramaic was the language of Jesus.
The Syriac (not Syrian) language is directly derived from the Aramaic and it was spoken for long time by the Maronites. It's still spoken in the Maronite Mass.
