the FBI's ideal penetration dept is 12-18 inches. personally, i would use a 102gr FMJ .380 to get the 12inch minimum. that's more important to me than a little expansion.

uhh nope.

glock is changing their advice in this issue. they already recommend snap caps at their armorers course, and all new manuals that come with glocks will soon be changed to reflect this.

i see. sounds like definite expansion. wasn't sure if they'd be able to penetrated completely. interesting. thanx for the info. one of their carcasses would be a great medium to test out different jhp brands (as long as you don't plan on eating it that is lol)

there are too many examples of ranger-t and bonded ranger not expanding properly. it's not simply a bad lot.

i would stick to federal hst/federal tactical bonded/gold dot :)

the hollow cavity generally collapses when passing through hard barriers like car doors. what you want is the bullet to maintaint most of it's weight and not fragment or experience core/jacket separation :)

performance too poor for defense. too expensive for target plinking. completely useless ammo.

any way you can start shooting two rounds of the same jhp into each gel block? seems big enough to be feasible. plus, gives you an extra round for comparison.

andreleger fires jhp's into water. almost every jhp on the planet expands well in this medium, even crappy ones.

HST is not bonded ammo, but retains it's wait about as well as bonded ammo.

the advantage of bonded ammo is to retain it's weight through hard barriers so it still penetrates it's target properly.

all the googling i've done on this ammo shows it to be obscenely garage. often plugged up by the polymer ball that supposed to prevent that, and performing like a fmj bullet.
