To answer the most commonly-asked questions:

Q: "I'm hitting everything at 100%, but my score is lower, what's going on?"

A: There is a tap perfection system in place in TTR2 and all games made after it (Coldplay, DMB and Gaga), and what this means is that there are different point distributions depending on how well you tapped the incoming beat. The more on-beat you are, the higher your score will be. You will also notice that since the TTR 2.5 update, a new tap rating system (via colored rings in the tap zones) has come into play. Here's what the colors will tell you:

-Red: Complete miss (-30 points + broken streak, if you had one going)
-Orange: 0 points, but won't break your streak
-Dark blue: 50 points
-Light blue: 75 points
-Green: 150 points

The above points are for 1x multiplier, so you'd obviously need to multiply by 2, 3, 4, and 8 for the other multipliers/streaks. Those points also apply to arrow shakes (yes, those give you points too). In the early days of TTR2, all you had to go by to know if you were tapping well was the size of the pop once you tapped something, but this new system makes it easier to point out your weaknesses, get your timing right, and ultimately improve your play :)

Keep in mind that the color-coded tap rating system only applies to non-themed tracks in TTR 2.5, not in any of the premium games or special editions. The point distribution remains the same across all post-TTR2 games though.

Q: "Why is your score on the video lower than your real high score?"

A: Generally, the scores in my videos will be flat due to the set up I use when recording. Not only is the camera a mere inch or so away from my face, but my arms are almost fully extended to hold the iPod in front of the camera. This results in a very uncomfortable playing position that doesn't let me perform at my highest, given that I must peek around or over the camera while while trying to keep the iPod from drifting away from the recording area. On top of things there's the actual tapping--I have to make sure I don't miss and put up a decent run after all! Looking at the built-in screen on the camera is out of the question due to latency--it might look accurate on the camera screen, but it was not in sync with the live action, resulting in inaccurate tapping.

Q: "Are Tapulous points the same as online points?"

A: No, Tapulous points are a new addition to the game, and these will be used once some cool new features are rolled out (can't share any specifics just yet!). You earn Tapulous points by submitting single player scores to the leaderboards. Online rating or points are different--these are the points you earn when battling other people in live games online, and in my opinion are more worthwhile as a measure of ability.

Q: "omfg I beatED you!!!!11111"

A: Nice, although it's important to note that my scores in the lower difficulty modes were requested by friends in the earlier days of the game, and do not interest me in the least. Even extreme mode has songs on there that don't belong in that category, and it's more fun for me to play the *really* hard songs that even other good players can't achieve a good score in.

There is also the fact that my song lists are limited to these harder songs, because the least amount of songs on your list, the faster the menu will load. Try it out, you'll find that this is the case. Doing away with those easier songs on the extreme list was a good move in many ways.

Q: "Get a life!"

A: I've got one, thanks :). Making these videos is a side hobby and doesn't take long at all. The actual play is on average 3-4 minutes depending on the song. Then, the editing process is a breeze because I made a template for my videos, so that's another 2 minutes. After that comes rendering, which is roughly 30 minutes while I go do something else. Once rendering is complete, I leave the video uploading for another 30 or so minutes while I go do something else again.

So in reality, this hardly takes any time to do.

On a side note, it does amuse me that the losers who post troll comments (and who swear they know about my personal life) either don't have any worthwhile videos of any kind that they can share, or they are into some incredibly lame games or hobbies that DO waste all day, like World of Warcraft and imitating Michael Jackson's moonwalk in their bedroom (true story!).
