About Me:

I'm a smart, passionate woman, firecely loyal to family and friends. I cannot stand stupidity (otherwise smart people acting stupid - like ignoring avalanche warnings and still going high-marking with snowmobiles as one example). I love life. Music is medicine. I write seriously and creatively.

I am the mother of three, stepmother of two, grandmother of five and "aunt-nanny" to two.

********************************
A Woman of Salt

I am a woman of salt and gritty sand.
I am a woman of leaven, of pregnant yeast.
I am a woman of spice, of mystery and myrrh, of aloes and ointments.

I am a woman of blood, of life.
Ancient memories course through my veins.

I am a woman of light and shadows,
silhouettes and starbursts, sunny smiles and fleeting frowns.
I am a woman of dark.
Night calls to me yet repels my very soul.

I am a woman of stones, of mountains and majesty, of precious jewels and ancient fossils.
I see beauty in a lump of coal and stories of the universe in granite.

I am a woman of passion, of lust and love, of agony and hate.
He who made me, made me whole.

I am a woman of warp and woof,
bright strands of colour and unbleached wool.
I weave memories both light and dark.
I capture moments that touch the heart.

I am a woman of word and song.
I am a woman of memory.
I capture stories and paint emotions.

Music, wild and full of fury, speaks deep inside, fans the faint embers,
stirs the ashes, makes the flame burn bright.

I am a woman of salt.

Ah Lass, The Great War was something that we could have done without. You wear a poppy to honor those who have gone before. This year ther are only three still left. All the others have gone down the road which we all will walk someday. Those men who quivered in the cold and gray and fought, its lonely standing tall in formation in the cold and dark, even as now our children stand in our places. Your grandad was of a generation that did its duty, it could not do less. They sleep till they will rise anew. Its cold and gray somewhere the sunshines, and we have not forgotton, those like your grandfather, who are gone.

The Rankins Gaelic song "Gillean Mo Run" had this note posted:
"The 3 Rankin Sisters recorded this song at a much slower tempo on their Christmas album "do you hear...". It is actually called "A'Challuinn (The New Year)". The liner notes say that this song still remains popular in Inverness Co., Cape Breton, and is a celebratory song about a special New Year's homecoming by soldiers from war. Origins in Lochaber, Scotland."
I spent my childhood summers at Lochaber Lake, NS.

The daylight is shorter here and we had some snow flakes in the morning of Halloween. The night was warmer than last year and we had over 200 Trick Or Treaters at the door. My Girls had a blast and got a full pillow case of candy!
All is well here and I hope you are too!

All of the Kicking Horse/Kickinghorse/Golden videos are from where I live. I look up at the Kicking Horse ski resort every day from my home. It's a bit like living in a postcard.

"Te Quiero" the above video: I learned enough Spanish to know that to say "Te Quiero" to your man (or your woman) meant so much more than just "Te Amo" (I love you). I love you, I need you, I want you. Deeply, beyond anything else. In Hebrew, in Genesis, the word "yada" (To know) is used in "Now Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore Cain." Think about it. To know someone in the biblical sense is to know that person intimately, beautifully, deeply and with the ability to bring forth life. Not just physically as in bearing a child but also by bringing to birth love, joy, peace, understanding, union and more, much more. Someday I will again say, "Te quiero."

This is what I posted on "Canada's Queen Reminds Them Who Rules Them" -:
The Queen of Canada does not rule, she reigns. There is a huge difference in a Parliamentary democracy. The Governor General is her representative. The GG plays a limited often ceremonial role in our nation. The Government is the Prime Minister (First among equals) and his party who hold the majority (sometimes not) of seats in Parliament and the Official Opposition.
