About this user

The Canadian Guitar Festival is a weekend event like no other. The holiday weekend in July /August sees thirteen world class artists on the mainstage over three evenings. In addition to this we host the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition from 10-4 on Sunday complete with prizes and bragging rights:) All who are interested in entering, head over to the website for details.
The performing artists represent the world as well as Canada and have come from as far away as New Zealand, Norway, Germany, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S.
Our audience has traveled from wide and far as well. Centrally located just 8 Kms North of Kingston Ontario, we are 2.5 hrs from Toronto, 1.5 hrs from Ottawa, 3 hrs from Montreal and 6 hrs from New York City. In June 2007, festival founder Del Vezeau purchased a campground on Loughborough Lake. Not only is our home permanent, it is gorgeous! We have on-site camping at the festival with a separate workshop stage, food vendors, world class guitar makers and other music related exhibitors.
While our focus thus far has been on the acoustic side of the instrument, we have presented artists of many different styles from Jazz, World, Pop, Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Gypsy, Flamenco, Classical, New Age, Celtic, Country, and of course Fingerstlye!
The first thing you must try to understand and IMAGINE if possible is this: There is no 'pageantry' here...nor is this an environment likened to a recital situation; all artists are selected on their ability as performers and entertainers. At the end of the day it all boils down to vibe...and baby...we got vibe! We hope you enjoy performances from our 06 & 07 season and join us in 2010.
