This is a very superficial & insignificant comment compared to most on here, but the only flying Bell UHIH chopper in the UK is kept about 10 miles from me here. It's an incredible machine, & the sound is unique. I can only imagine how US soldiers, who were injured, must have felt when they heard...

A very moving tribute to the 1.1 million souls who were murdered at Auschwitz & Birkenau during WW2. I have read Stella's book & visited the camps & the old Jewish ghetto at Krakow. All of this has made an impression on me which will never be erased & should never be erased from modern consciousn...

I always thought this was a Mudcrutch song.....but now I'm wiser..... great song.

That is brilliant, so many people criticize Celine, but this is such a big song, nobody can sing it like her..but you come close, very close indeed.... fantastic !!

@Corkscrewkenny Crikey, that means that I must be a schizo too....I listen to rock almost all the time & this guy. maybe it's because there is something basic, honest, flawless & lacking in frills about rock & CTW.....who knows... rock on !

Incredibly, this song seems to divide opinion between those who think it is miserable & thos who think it is beautiful. I think it is amazingly beautiful. Simple, minimalist & stunning.

When this song was released in 1973, I was 17 & a heavy rock fan...but when I heard it, it blew me away, but I never had the courage to tell my mates that I liked it ! I played it on a juke box in the local pub, & when the outcry started, as to who put it on...I lust kept my head down !! Possibly...

Just occasionally, you hear a song for the first time, & you have to stop what you are doing & listen to it completely. This is one of those moments for me...what a wonderful song, perfectly sung. What a legacy John left us, a modest, unassuming genius, with a huge heart.

I live only a handful of miles from where this Huey is kept. I have seen her fly & it is truly an awe inspiring experience, to see & hear her. A marvelous tribute to those brave American military personnel who fought all those years ago.... most of them hardly out of their teenage years.....

Just watch Apocolypse Now....after you've seen it, this song will never seem quite the same again.....
