Clever Scam formed out of a previous band in Dallas called "Maven" which performed around town from 1985-87'. After four years apart- Chris Burton, Brett Pettit, Bill Simone, and now Leena Burton, started the band "Clever Scam" in early 1991. The material was a mix of Original & Cover tunes with a lot of progressive rock influence: aka.. Rush, Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, Queensryche, etc.. "Clever Scam" played consistantly around D/FW for about 3 years at: "The Basement", "Dallas City Limits", "Smokin Daves Rockroom", "Club Mongo" formerly "Savvys", "Trees", "On The Rocks", and were chosen for the debut local cable tv show "Live & Loud". Their original "Ground Zero" was featured on the nationally syndicated radio station "Z-Rock" numerous times, and they always gave a high energy show.
