Costa Rica is an open and direct democracy with a free market economy. We do have, nonetheless, different ideological positions like in any democratic country. Moreover, our country is very much involved in ecological protectionism, so no open mining, severe controls on carbon fuels, high development of alternative energy sources, etc.
