I've made a similar experience a few years back, but I didn't leave him. After he told me that he's okay with me being a lesbian but that everyone else who's homosexual can stay away from him, I told him "Know what? Think deeply about what you just said and when you came to a conclusion, feel free to tell me." It took a few days, but he came to realize his own ignorance and apologized to me and even told me "If Ithere would be a way to apologize to every homosexual on Earth that I've ever insulted, I'd do it." We're still friends today ^_^
