Always Knew Those who Were true

I know you've loved me
I could feel it I could see

Chasin' was just part of the action
I loved all the attraction

Always on that stage burning so bright
I was the new found beacon
Loved so much beyond reason
Me unaware? I really did know

Many hurt me while I was here
That's why I held few so near
After awhile to the pain I became immune
I found peace under the stars and the moon
The stage was my place of freedom
The only place I could truly be free
To show my stuff and just be me
Cuffed to those I'd signed a contract
Wish I'd never met them, come in contact
All my fame this made them wealthy
Drained me so much I wasn't healthy
Even while visiting Stage 54
Everyone froze when I walked through the door
Didn't they realize I was human too
Just wanted to hang blend in and brew
When the "Moonwalk" was danced upon the stage
From that moment on I'd never be allowed to age
For all who watched my magic feet
You know, I learned it from kids off the street
Always so lonely when away from the stage
Couldn't really mingle I was all the rage
I loved you my fans so loyal
Treating me as if someone royal
Most of my fortune I gave it away
My fame and fortune would cost me one day
Helping those with so much less
Made my feel so good I confess
All those children sick and poor
Nothing to eat, sleeping on the floor
I'd send my men to bring what you need
Medicine, beds, food to feed
I'm glad I could bring some sunshine your way
It meant more to me than all my pay
The notes you carry were but my song
You've had them in your heart all along
I shared the songs with you my friends
My movin and shakin' sent you off the deep end
But I danced and sang all the longer
You were part of my music you made me stronger
You intensified my drive
That's why on stage I felt so alive
Looking out at the sea of faces
I saw around the world so many places
I've been around , seen it all
Watched many rise, and many fall
I sang of these tragic and desolate places
Asked you to help give them your aces
You had a full desk of cards
While others lives were full of just shards
You listened to my songs so long
But did you HEAR what was said in song
Did you closely listen to every verse
Sorry I'm asking so much, but must be terse
The meanings in these songs runs deep
Listen to the message in song immerse and steep
When you feel the love and pain in every word
Then my notes have finally been heard
I know I was far from perfect, lord knows I tried
After shows alone in my room I often cried
Prayed to God for the sins of my dance
I knew he'd give me another chance
After all I sang songs of peace and love
I was sure he was watching closely from up above
My favorite times were spent with the young
They were so perfect since the time they'd begun
If only I could protect them from all that's wrong
That's where the music comes from in my song
Bad light, surrounding my world with children?
I'd do it all over, it was never a sin
I built and lived in the land of nod
Those blind to purity and love thought it was odd
My place of peace and adventure, my Neverland
Would never be visited by those evil at hand
Hatin' wasn't allowed never crossed my mind
In my heart and Neverland, love was all you would find
The feeling of Joy, love, peace and laughter
That's all I sought to give, all I was after
To watch the planets align in the sky just so
The shooting stars, and his glorious glow
Connecting with our heavenly father in masses
Laying under the heavens with nature and the grasses
In bringing your children watching them play
You learned of what I really was trying to say
I'm glad you let them have a day of magic
The world outside of here is so tragic
You're blinded by the visions of mans conviction
As a parent your sight is a limited restriction
For the children living all over the earth
I'll always be sharing with them all that I'm worth
They are so innocent, perfect and pure
If only others would follow we'd find the cure
To all that's worthless, the things we seem to need
Listen to the children follow their lead
Their life is so simple asking for not much
Just to romp outside, play and such

The magic of music was absolutely wondrous
After each song your applause was thunderous
Wish I could have done something more

Givin' me some time to rest and find composure
I lived in hidden locations to escape the never ending exposure
Why'd I have to define how I'm feelin'?
It's sung in all my music and song
I wish I'd have been looked at as normal
The life and my world was much too formal
Shy since a little boy, it will not change
