New Staff Additions - Common Interest would like to welcome Mr. Chinaphatra (Sun) Khankam to our staff. Sun is from Chiang Mai and currently works as a part-time tour guide and is a former member of the Thai Mission to the UN in New York. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the local area and its people. The photo above is at our training session in Chiang Mai. Our staff was joined by some of our Community Leaders to discuss ways to improve our programs.s

The photo above is of our first women's group in the Phrao area of Chiang Mai (The "Better Life Village Bank"). There are 24 women members. The group has already provided 16 loans to each other from their own savings. They have also just received an additional loan of 120 000 baht from Common Interest which will allow their Village Bank to provide more loans to its members.
CASEY OLYNYK PUBLIC PROFILE
We support microfinance programs that enable the poor, mostly women, to lift themselves out of poverty and make better lives for their families. To do this, we partner with a worldwide network of microfinance institutions. Our work focuses on four key areas: CASEY OLYNYK PROFILE
Vision: sharing and caring with those in need.

Mission: relieve suffering and improve quality of life through the direct provision of supplies, education and services to medical facilities and schools for overlooked and impoverished areas of the world. CASEY OLYNYK
How poor are the microfinance clients served by your partners? For many, it is hard to imagine just how poor microfinance clients are. Many live on just a dollar or so a day and often families eke out an existence on just half of what many of us spend daily on a cup of gourmet coffee each day. Exact dollar amounts vary from country to country, but, by any standards, microfinance clients are literally struggling to live from day to day.

With tiny loans, financial services and technology, we help the poor, mostly women, start self-sustaining businesses to escape poverty. Founded in 1997 by a group of friends who were inspired by the work of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, our global network of 55 microfinance institution (MFI) partners, including our Growth Guarantee partners, has touched more than 34 million people in 24 countries. Our partners reach 6.8 million clients, and in addition, we introduced and now sustain technology initiatives (Mifos and Village Phone) in Cameroon, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, bringing our total country outreach to 28.
