About this user
Chandler/Stroud native Casey Smalley began his musical journey back in high school where he learned songs from his dad, Gary Smalley, who is a talented singer/songwriter in his own right. Some of his happiest memories of his younger days are the regular "jam sessions" he attended with his dad where he met musicians who just wanted to play their own music and enjoy the fellowship of like-minded artists.
Casey has an eclectic style of delivering a song but if you press him to pin down his musical genre he will tell you that it's Alternative Country or "Roots" music. While attending school at NSU in Tahlequah, Casey played local favorites, The Iguana Café and Town Branch. After two years of college, longing to explore his musical calling, he packed his bags and headed to Colorado to check out the music scene in Denver. He was a hit, regularly playing the 16th Street Mall on Saturday nights. It wasn't long before he was entertaining the locals and visitors alike at music venues such as Leela's Café,The Meadowlark,The Lion's Den, Clock Tower and Denver's Sunfest 2008.
Casey is not only a great guitar player and singer but occasionally accompanies himself on harmonica. He enjoys jamming to cover songs in addition to his own music and sometimes even plays an original penned by his dad.
Currently a resident of Norman, Casey can be heard at many venues around the west side of the State playing great Oklahoma venues —- JJ's Alley, The Prohibition Room, The Wormy Dog, The Deli, The Cooper Penny and Willie's Saloon just to name a few. Casey credits Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Ryan Bingham, The Band, Bruce Springsteen and his dad as his musical influences. Casey will release his first EP this October.
