Carnaby Christmas 2013 - The Launch

674 views 4 months ago
Christmas launched in Carnaby on Thursday 14 November in true Carnaby style - with the first ever virtual switch on in London.

At 5.15pm DJ Goldierocks took to the giant screen on Carnaby Street, to reveal the countdown of the top ten Christmas songs in association with NOW That's What I Call Music, as voted for by YOU.

At 6pm Goldierocks announced that your Christmas number one was Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade. The 3D illuminated robins came to life, the world famous Carnaby arches sparkled with pea-lights and glittering snow, and confetti canons sprinkled the street in stars.

The switch on took place as part of the Carnaby Christmas Shopping night, which saw over 120 shops, bars and restaurants offer 20% discount, inshore activities, DJ's and live music. Live music came courtesy of The Carnaby's at Lambretta and Elle & The Pocketbelles at Benefit, while hip Carnaby nightspot Disco and Belvedere partnered up to offer everyone a complimentary Belvedere RED Winter Breeze cocktail.

Shoppers took part in a live Instagram fashion shoot, 200 goodie bags were given out, Illamasqua hosted spectacular live model makeovers and Wright Brothers were shucking oysters in Kingly Court.
