About Me:

Carlin Ma currently is a graduate of San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Professor Yoshikazu Nagai. In the past, she studied at Indiana University, with Mr. Menahem Pressler, Arnaldo Cohen, Evelyne Brancart, Emile Naoumoff, and Karen Taylor. The international stage is not foreign to Ms. Ma. In summer of 2009, she performed in Lübeck, Germany, where the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival invited her with full scholarship. In 2006, she performed in St. Petersberg, Russias Capella Hall and Philharmonic Hall as a featured soloist and as a member of her orchestra on violin. Other past orchestral solo performances include with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She also had the privilege to perform in masterclasses with Sergei Babayan, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Robert Levin, Joseph Kalichstein, Anne Schein, Jon Nakumatsu, and Angela Chang.

Constantly searching for means of connecting with people, Ms. Ma has accumulated capacious collaborative experience as the studio accompanist of Alex Kerr and Eric Kim, rehearsal pianist for Carmen Tellez's Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, accompanist for Mimi Zweig's String Academy program, and member of various chamber ensembles. Tanglewood Music Festival invited her in summer of 2011 to perform in their concert series.

One of her most rewarding collaborative musical experiences was when she gathered an orchestra of friends to perform piano concerti together.

===============

On a less formal basis, I love many things outside of music as well - photography, martial arts, reading, philosophy, science, badminton, German, and finding the answers to life's persistent questions.
