About this user

Carl Ashwin was born in the city of Birmingham, England in 1977. His Father was a Milkman and his Mother, a House-Wife and Cleaner at a City Pub.

Carl was introduced to a Musical instrument at the age of Six when he was given a small, electric fan operated Organ (in effect, an electric Harmonium). The first tune he learned to play was Silent Night and from that night, sitting in his Pyjamas, showing his parents his new skill, the Music bug had him truly in its grip.

He progressed to one of the early Yamaha portable Synthesizers, Piano and even Pipe Organ at his local Church (by this time, in Swanage, Dorset).

In his 20's he worked with various groups and artists and even took some time off from Music altogether for a while. In his late 20's he returned to Music and got a job teaching in the Music department of the towns College.

Today Carl writes in a variety of styles and has started to experiment with more of an Orchestral sound in addition to his usual laid back arrangements. Like the film Mr Hollands Opus, Carl is determined that there is one definitive piece of Music in him that will be his statement to the world. Every piece he writes, takes him one step closer.
